About the Bailen Brothers

The Bailen Brothers Against a Brick Wall

Described by Entertainment Weekly as one of the “Top 5 indie discoveries of the CMJ music festival,” The Bailen Brothers “compositions are impressively crisp, with a flawless brass section and two-part vocal harmonies to rival Simon & Garfunkel.” (EW.com)

Songwriting twin duo David and Daniel Bailen have been playing music and writing songs ever since the womb. In fact, they came out singing in perfect harmony! As members of the Metropolitan Opera Children’s Chorus, both were featured soloists. In 2007, the two went into the studio with pianist Pierre Piscitelli and recorded their first EP as The Bailen Brothers Band, “Come and Get Your Art.” The band made their national television debut when they were featured on Nickelodeon throughout that summer.

The Bailen Brothers members emanate from NYU and Juilliard and have been playing on the New York Club scene since 2007, with college tours in the Northeast and California. In 2010, the band moved to Florence, Italy, where they had weekly residencies at two clubs in the city center. They also performed at other venues around Italy including the Blue Note, Milan and The Pinocchio Club.

Since their return from Europe, The Bailen Brothers were voted the best college band in the North-East by College Battle and Grammy U, and one of the top 5 bands in Manhattan by WNYC radio and The Greene Space. They have written music for and/or been featured on Nickelodeon, Huffington Post, Entertainment Weekly, Elle.com, Refinery 29, The Man Repeller, Marc Jacobs, Free People, Victoria's Secret PINK, Guess Bambini, Vogue Bambini, The Globe and Mail and more. In 2012 they released their first full-length album "Must Be Mistaken" co-produced with world-renowned producer, Joe Mardin (Raul Midon, Jewel, Nora Jones).

David Bailen, also a film major at NYU Film School, directs the band’s music videos and Daniel Bailen produces them. Currently, they have released music videos for “I Just Wanna Dance” and "Girls On Bikes Are Hot,” songs from their album. The Bailen Brothers pride themselves on producing and creating their own music and music videos from start to finish, including directing, editing, producing, composing, arranging, recording, and starring in them! It is all part of the job as an exciting up and coming indie band.

The Bailen Brothers have played on the VH1 ‘Save the Music’ Breaking Through Concert Series, Harlem Jazz Museum’s Annual July 4th Concert in the Park, and the CMJ Music Marathon among other festivals. They have also held residencies and played shows at The Studio @ Webster Hall, The Bowery Poetry Club, The Bitter End, Sullivan Hall, Tammany Hall, The Triad Theater, The Local 269, The Laurie Beechman Theater, The Double Seven, and many more.

They are currently working on new music, new music videos, and even a sitcom and a web series.
